Hey,
As of yesterday, I'm the new guy.
I collect mainly 1/72 & 1/48 commonwealth aircraft & have a question:
I've noticed several models on Ebay that are "decertified". I was wondering if someone could explain to me the reason why a model would become decertified?
Not that it makes much difference to me, as I own several in my collection that have been decertified, just curious as to why.
Thank ya in advance!

In the not too recent past this was the subject of much discussion and debate. You might like to trawl back through previous threads and also have a a look at this Ebay "Guides (http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Corgi-Aviation-Archive-Certified-amp-De-Certified-Models_W0QQugidZ10000000002421164?ssPageName=BUYGD :CAT:-1:SEARCH:1)" but take a huge pinch of salt before reading "Most certificated models will hold their value and inevitably become an investment as the value will increase over time and offer a good return."
Remember that the value of your investment can go down.:)

Remember though you can get things that are decertified but come with certificates. I have a 1/32 plane i am sure that says decerted on the box but has the limited edition certificate on the inside.

Thank you both for your replies.
BTW - I tried to justify my purchases as "investments" to my wife. I'm afraid that the jury is still out on the use of that term.

If you just want to enjoy the model, Canuck, go right ahead and get the 'decert'. But if you think that at any time you may wish to 'sell it on', then best not to buy.
As others have suggested, check out the older threads - we have discussed this in great depth. I think the overall consensus is that 'decerting' was a very ill-advised strategy on the part of the manufacturer involved.....
