I really hesitate to call myself a collector, as I know next to nothing about formally collecting and displaying A/C....I bought my first Corgi models simply because they looked nice on my bookshelf in my office.
However, now that I'm being a tad more discriminatory in my buying, I wouldn't mind a "Newbie Forum" to help myself and other neophyte collectors.

AllenTC2,
In what way please would you like a "newbie forum" and so see what we can do? Give us something to go at? This is why this thread is here......

LOL Sorry, I guess I could have elaborated.......
I guess what I'm suggesting is a seperate area for those of us new to collecting diecast aircraft to ask questions without muddying up the aircraft/scale specific areas (where I presume the already knowledgeable members will be discussing whatever)
I'm not sure how I'd arrange it....one of my other hobbies is airsoft, and frequently the newcomers post the same questions over and over again. We usually post a "sticky" topic, such as "Which is the best AEG" or "Where can I get a X" at the top. Of course, the newbies rarely seem to see it so that may not be the best idea! LOL
I've been hanging out in the Military 1:72 area, and it's just a tad overwhelming. I've always like military A/C, and I bought the Corgis I have just because they were easier than making plastic models, and they were durable. I can see now (after about 2 hours perusing the forum) there is a whole other side to collecting A/C!! LOL

I reckon there should be some kind of league table for the newbies, starting with the most desirable models and finishing off with the legends
Telling them what year a certain model came out and give them a rough guide to what kind of price they should be expected to pay for the model. :)
