After missing out yesterday, I heard last night that the 19 Squadron Hawk in 1938 camoflague (based on a Duxford Spitfire) was still at Coningsby. So off I toddled to bag it. The plan was for the Hawk to fly out with the BBMF and head to Beaumaris at 11.55am today. Talking to one of the BBMF guys though the plan has been scuppered by the good old English weather. The Lanc and Spit were out of the hangar but going nowhere due to poor weather in the south. He cheered me up though by giving me the latest BBMF colour brochure:)

Some Hawks taking off at Glasgow airport the engines alerted me it was not a normal civil. Told the wife and she thought i was having her on about engine sounds. (wummin what do they know)

Saw them 10 minutes later flying over the Cup final On TV.

It's one where if they did a limited edition of 100, they would sell for £50.. but if they did 2000, three years later they would still be trying to give them away as full AA's for a couple of quid..:(

Great photos Snafu, and well done RAF!!

Can we have some more please - about 8 years further back - polished aluminium with blue & white checks everywhere! Or come to that, about 20 years 'forward', with polished aluminium and blue & white checks everywhere!

As for doing a model of this 1939 Hawk, just buy a 1939 Spitfire Mk.1 and use the markings!
