Welcome granpa , the Corgi Hurricane is good and this particular scheme is very nice as well , also it is the only diecast Mk.1/ 11C worth having IMPO . The Corgi Spitfire was never as good as the Hurricane and compared to many other newer molds shows its age , having said that it is still the only diecast early Mk. around . :)

Both models worth having . :)

the best scheme , once again IMPO , for the hurricane though is McKnights which can still be found on ebay sometimes reasonably priced : -

Very good advice , there is evil lurking on this site that will try and take you away from the pure 1:72 military , BEWARE !!

Oh and try and pick them up if you can as MZ's mail order dept. has a somewhat hit/miss attitude to packing and addresses !! :(

Ahh i see , was going to ask that so perhaps its best to pop in tommorow to my local store in Guildford then before ordering from the web site.

Best idea , also means you can check the models / boxes out and easily request another one if you find a fault . :)

Welcome to the DAF Granpa! I'd certainly pick up from the shop if it's not too far from you. That way you can check the condition of the boxes and more importantly, have a good look at the models to make sure there are no defects. It's a cracking trio and a good place to begin your descent into madness... As Kev mentioned, don't forget to gat your discount for buying all three!

Compared to a Corgi VC10 then its a definite must.. thing is in MZ you are fairly safe from a civil intrusion..:D :D

Welcome..

Welcome to the forum granpa:)

Can't go wrong with Corgi's 1/72 Hurri', it is a fine casting with some very good schemes available, even the blue one:eek: :D

Echo everyones comments ref the MZ BBMF trio, they are excellent especially PHOR Lanc. Bit expensive for your initial outlay into the hobby but worth taking up the discount offer on purchasing all 3 at once, but believe me, when you get to your 100th model (or maybe even more:unsure: ) it will seem cheap:wacko: :)

Oh, and take no notice of the heathens on here, 'aint nothing wrong with the "dark side" . Just take a look at a few of AgentX20's great pics in the 1/200 civie thread:cool:

Now that will cost you serious money:LOL:

Now, now..........but total agreement.

Welcome granpa.....see you're in Farnham....nice town...used to be there for a few days every month with work.

As has been said, if you want an early Spit then Corgi is the only one. If you are not bothered about the Mk then go for a Gemini Aces one....far better mould. The Hurri & Lanc are two of Corgi's best types.:cool

Welcome Granpa! Happy posting but, most important of all, just have fun! Helps if you are completely insane of course.

Now, about this camo v civils stuff....some of us, ahem, swing both ways! Saying that (sorry, just got to caress my Inflight BA 747 again), some spam cans are also available in camo-ish....see Lord X20's beloved VC-10s but I had better move on otherwise he'll get started again and his nurse will be administering the pills!:D

Personally, just deciding which A380 model to buy when I visit Airbus on my hols in July. No camo in sight......ssshhh....:D

A very warm welcome granpa ! :) I can only echo the above comments re the BBMF models ; I'll just say that if you can justify the expense, the Corgi 1/72 Lancaster is regarded as one of the finest die-casts ever produced and there is always strong demand for 'obsolete' models. It's a great feeling to open your first Corgi Lancaster box......

And as for Civils - pah ! There is an even darker side lurking on the forum......

The early Corgi Spit is a classic but i think that the new Gemmi Aces one that is on its way will blow it away
and with a stab in the dark i reckon we could get a commissioned one as well

Will we be seeing you at any shows over the summer ? Only as a newbie could you give us some notice of your attending your 1st DAF meeting as it takes CFBC and Red2 sometime to train a new goat . :D

I know - lets pressure the newbie and put the guy off straight away Kev! Oh, hold on... Would be nice to see you at an airshow! :D

Gramps... Ease yourself in gradually and make sure the lady in your life is looked after too or the diecast will soon go (speaking of experiance which I am sure many members can relate too).

Enjoy the forum and welcome once again. :)

I know what you mean, she actually picked out the display cases as being nice to go in the living room either side of the vinyl record system so no worrys there, as for meets may do legends or as its close the Farnbourgh International although theres not much old stuff there which is actually what i prefer.

Good drills on your first day! Even with these three and the other two from your other thread, there'll be a lit of spare room in that cabinet... at least 5 single seat fighters per shelf before they look cluttered in those ikea cabinets!
