cant see these mentioned elsewhere but apologies if they are :D
seen a couple advertised on 'evilbay' but dont recall hearing about them? they seem to be 1/64th scale (why??) and theres an F14 and a couple of helos.. they're about £8 or £9, so does that reflect their quality??

'Tactical Strike' is a Corgi/US line, Neil. You'll find them listed on the US Web site at:

My own opinion is that they're very nice toys, but not adult collectibles. I think the scale is linked to some other form of modeling but I can't remember what it is. I think it might be other military vehicles. The intent is that this TS (unfortunate initials, those... :D ) line is compatible with the other, more popular line, making this line more "desirable".

thanks for the info and the link... the F14 doesnt look bad in the pictures just a shame about the scale.. although i suppose I could buy the Helos to go with it and start another collection!

I would say they are better than toy-like in terms of quality. The primary reason for their low cost is a much greater use of plastic. This is apparently an attempt to create a "nexus" scale for wargamers, though their choice of only modern American equipment seems an odd bet for that. The fact that figures can be produced at this scale more effectively than at 1/72 was probably what drove the selection of that scale. Of course, Corgi already does a lot of ground vehicles in 1:64.

A good point, H/B, but I think it depends on the particular model since the quality seems to vary somewhat. For example, the AH-64 Apache impresses me much more than the much-too-blue F-14. :)
Some folks will buy these, some won't. ;)
