I was curious as to what you all thought of the Gainscorp offerings? I have a SU-27 from them. It sets off my Dragon Wings F15E and F16C nicely, but on its own, I think it's kind of shabby. It's definitely best viewed from a distance IMHO. It's really a shame as I don't see any other modern MiG or Sukhoi models out there.

Opinions?

Only seen one through glass, but I thought it was quite nice.

Their Sukhois are great, which is good because no one else will probably ever do one. :D

I have mine sitting on the shelf with dragon and corgi jets and it really makes the collection look complete. Yes, when viewed up close their quality is not quite up to corgi and a long way from dragon but nothing worth getting upset over. If I could get them to change one thing it would just be the decals. Some details are tampo printed, why not all of them?

That is EXACTLY what I thought brought the model down. I also wasn't pumped about the tape used to secure the moving parts...it left a sticky residue on the wings. I've been hesitant to use any sort of adhesive remover for fear of messing up the paint.

Also, my left wing seems a bit...wobbly?

Yeah, sticking down the control surfaces is annoying. I actually broke one of my flaps off trying to remove the stupid tape. So much for secure packaging!

I'm thinking of getting some decal fixer to protect the decals on mine. I've heard that their F-15s are all tampo printed and I hope this means their F-22s will be too. Probably no chance of them doing the same with future Sukhois though.

You broke one of your flaps? Sounds painful.

I have the Gaincorp Su-27, and it's probably on a par with Corgi's jets. I don't think it's quite as good as Dragon, though. It's puzzling why Gaincorp have used a combination of decals and pad printing. It's almost as if the decals were added as an afterthought.

There are plenty of moving parts on the Su-27, but not all of them are any good. The hinged canopy, airbrake and rudders work well, but the leading-edge slats and trailing-edge flaps have so little movement that one wonders why they are there at all.

Overall, I think that the Gaincorp Russian aircraft are a welcome addition to the scene, adding colour and variety.

As a manufacturer do they have a web address? As I will get it posted on the Web Site.

Picked up the new Su-33 Naval Flanker yesterday and I must say what an excellent model. Much improved over the original SU-27 Flanker, looks like it's all pad printed rather than stuck on decals.

Quick run down of features; hinged canopy and air brake, movable control surfaces. Both the main wings and elevators are hinged in the middle.

I have the Gainscorp F22 on order will be very interested to see the quality and compare with corgi also have a Dragon ME109 coming with it. This will be my first ventuer into both of these products, so will let you know what i think of them latter, hopefully i will be pleased with the results. Have been resisting the move of adding other producers, but if corgi are in doubt as to weather they are going to continue to produce what we as collectors want i will need to look at alternatives. :( :(

CFBC, here are couple of pictures I got of a website;

The piccies don't really do the model justice, well worth having a look at one if you get the chance.

If the pics don't do it justace it must be pretty good then. Trouble is it then starts another line to collect. Might have to buy another Mansion :D

I have a few of the Gaincorps, (6 in hand and 3 of the new Naval SU's to arrive today) and overall they make very nice display models.

I have the two new F22's, and a complaint I have with them is they sit too
high on the nose landing gear. Have to "prop" up the rear gear to have the planes sit level.

I've found the best method for removing the packing tape is the wife's hair drier,
a few seconds under high, and the tape pulls free with no residue.

I wouldnt be allowed.. thats a very serious offence..........At least Tricatus has an excuse that he is trying to get the props to go round..!!

I picked up a Naval Flanker a couple of weeks ago and it certainly looks imposing parked between my pair of Revell F-14s! I did find a pair of transfers on the undersides on the engine nacelles but the rest of the markings look excellent.

There were only two niggles for me:

1. The fit of the port wing root.
2. The tail 'sting': All the photos I have of Naval flankers show a much shortened one on the carrier based aircraft, presumably to prevent it being smacked into the deck on landing.

I think item 2 comes under the category of 'not investigating the variants available and planning your tooling accordingly'!

A good example of well planned tooling would be the corgi Harrier. A bad example would be either the corgi phantom, Lightning or Hunter!

I saw pictures on the Gaincorp eagle on another website. Certainly won't be parting with 35 notes for something less detailed than the Dragon offering....

Just received the f22 in the post today all the way from the mother country, arrived in very good condition despite the long flight,it was pared with another copy of the Dragon black 6,both from Corgi heritage.
Most impressed with the Gaincorp offering, detail is very good, would definitely look at adding more to the collection. they do sit high on the nose wheel, but without refering to the actual aircraft cant comment if this is correct. All in all it looks very good alongside all the other Heavy Metal.

Does anyone have what appear to be a marked (scratched/stained?) canopy on their F22? Only noticeable close up, but there nonetheless......

I have both of the F22's and they look fine. My eyes aren't what they used to be (what is), but don't see any defects.
