Have just been going though all my bills and receipts and looking at the news letters as you do and I have come to see that all my joking about Hobbymaster taking over my cards as I do. Well this month coming its not a joke as apart from some of my money going to Century Wings the rest is going to Hobbymaster!

Be interesting to see if there is any space left for pooch to fit in when they return to the game..

Going by my current buying it will have to be something special for them to get into the game

All a bit 'catch 22' for them I would think. Still plenty of mileage in some of their older tooling IMHO but as for new molds we're mainly on to the '2nd level' now so it's whether subjects in this tier can be commercially viable and sustain the Aviation Archive range for Hornby. Of course I hope they are successful with say a Stirling, DO17, Beaufort, Valiant or whatever else MIGHT be in the pipeline but the way it's going HM will have most of the 'obvious' ones remaining released within 12 months

Thank god I don't like HM's panel lines, otherwise I would have spent a fortune by now as they have released so many aircraft. Well who know's there's always the beaufighter coming up

Who??

Seriously though, folks . . . Good grief, has Cornby ever shot themselves in the foot, eh?! I myself have almost given up on them (sadly) and am looking at a lot of other options. HM and Gemini are a couple, InFlight200 may be another (depending on what October brings;)), but so far I have nothing to replace my prime source of beautiful RAF WWII 4-engine thunder. Fortunately, I do have a penchant for cold-war fighters and bombers too (going through a 50s-early 60s jag currently -- watching too much 'Mad Men'!) so HM can feedf some of that. I'm also a fan of the Vulcan and ESPECIALLY the Victor, so new old store stock (NOSS) may feed the jet bomber habit for a while too. Saw a nice nuke flash white set, but I understand the two models are inaccurate. Hmmmm.

Maybe when I get back to '1942', the pooch will have sorted their mess out. Honestly, let the truth be known, I too would covet a Stirling BUT I'm just too lazy to build the Airfix kit(!) My max effort has been a couple of MiniCraft 1:144 DC-3s right now.

The first of the major withdraws from my wallet is about to happen with the arrivals of the Century Wings F8 and the latest H/M shipment due as well. I have not yet sat down and worked out what the price hike from British gas will do to my budget but as we also get our electricity from them as well that means a 9 percent rise to add to the 35 percent hike on gas so I am afraid something has got to GIVE. Being as I am on a fixed income the news of the energy hike has hit me very hard along with a lot more of you I am sure but how hard I have still to work out as I need all my bills to hand. Fortunately I only have two models on pre order which now look like being my last buys for awhile I am so glad I cut back on doing this as the thought of going back to dealers to cancel is not a something I would fancy doing:mad:

You're OK with the antiflash set so long as it's the reissue. The original didn't have the recessed bomb bays for the Blue Steels, but the second attempt did. It had a couple of other corrections too. Well worth having if you can get the right set! :cool

Yeah -- I read that on the Tricatus site. Roundel sizes 15% larger, etc, etc.

Maybe you can help me here Craig . . . regarding the re-issue, I get a sense that those came as individual models, not packaged as a set. Am I right or wrong, as there was nothing mentioned (that I saw anyhow) on the retailers site and Tricatus suggests that they came as separates. Is that your knowledge? Any insight would be certainly appreciated.

UPDATE: Answered my own question. A very visible difference is the refueling probe on the Vulcan. On the modified one it is white. The original is silver. This set, it is clearly silver from the detailed photos provided. Two stands are clearly visible, and the re-issues don't come with stands at all. I have to give this some more thought.

:) Mr. Upkeep,

The whole affair was a complete Hound fiasco. Some models were replaced as individual items in plain boxes. Some repacements were sent out as complete sets in original boxes with a certificate. Those they managed to get hold of prior to distribution had the original models taken out and the new ones substituted..........:)

Buyer beware is probably the key here, I got mine in its original, "proper" box with certs. Others were sent out (as has been said) standless in the blue trays. If you're careful, getting a correct set in a proper box should be possible, just maybe exercise a little care for eBay purchases... :)

Mr. Spock and Mr. Craig -- thanx for the valuable insight. Much appreciated. I'm still mulling over my options, but be assured this won't be coming from eBay. I saw this set at the Mule. (Just search 'Vulcan')

Upkeep, if you don't mind the wheels down look, Perry's still had (last time I looked) the legend Camo Vulcan & Victor for $US40 a piece :)

Trouble is if you want a white one prices are in a totally different league... :)

Yes, I saw that, and a nice set they'd make too, so that is actually being considered. I would prefer actually one on stand the other on ground, and since these are of the Legends line the u/c are firmly fixed to the model, that isn't easily achievable. That aside, they DO make a very enticing pair. True, not nuke flash white, but a classic early 60s camo job regardless!

I'm thinking . . . ;)

Absolutely! Availability-wise and price-wise. I need to think about these two a bit more. Thanx for your insight Craig, most appreciated.
