Actually isn't that another program in the Spring....

Have to read the Sally B newsletter I got yesterday, as I am sure it's mentioned in there.....

Yep your right 'tis the same program, there is in fact a six page spread on it in the Sally B members mag, did not realise the Lanc was involved, as the way it was discussed at the various Duxford Airshows, it was just going to be Sally B....

Would appear that the training is done with Sally B then they go over to Canada to finish off with the Lanc.

Looks very good, there's even a bombing run North of Duxford.....

Get that recorder primed.....

Who remembers 'Spitfire Ace' on Channel 4 a while back? You know, 3 fellas trying to cut it as a Spitfire fighter pilot overseen by Carolyn Grace and her twin seater. Cause you do. Well now its back. And theres no Spits. :( They've now got a Lancaster :) (steady CFBC).

Yes, Bomber crew/ace/command (its something like that) hits our screens on Monday 29th Nov at 21:00. It follows a few fellas and a girlie  (good god what next) to see if they can cut it as part of a Lanc crew.Think the girlie maybe trying to cut it in the mess hall. Its a 4 parter so expect lots of lovely shots of Lancs, lashings of Gerry nightfighters and then back in time for dried eggs and bacon. Yum.

Phew.... hope Stealths compass was the right way round... shame cos the developer b***ards dug up the Anderson shelter the other side of me end wall.. sixty years of history gone courtesy of Mr Bamford and his yellow monsters... should have been listed..!! ... just when you need an air raid shelter..!!

I enjoyed it and look forward to the remaining programmes.

For some reason - possibly the family connections they had to Bomber Command - I thought the 'contestants' came across more sympathetically than the 'Spitfire Pilot' ones.

But as always, the veterans were wonderful to see and listen to, John Romain came across very well, and the aircraft - well, they looked just great, didn't they ?

At last some decent telly! i haven't watched TV for about 6 weeks. (even the news programmes these days are twisted and dramatical!) this was excellent... Following in the Tracks of Spitfire Ace 'and why not' i really am looking forward to the remaining shows.

Just two points tho... Do they actually get to 'Fly' the Lanc  (How many times were we reminded!)

Please Please Please do not start doing 'Celebrity Bomber Crew' etc god it doesn't bare thinking about

Overall Excellent....

Watched the recording tonight - superb stuff.

Great aerial shots; great Archive footage; great to see how the pilots were so close to their Grandparents and how it got to them realising what they must have gone through.

Best thing on TV in quite some time..............

I also watched this last night after recording it and I can say that my recorder is already pre-set to record it again..... Very good..... Good interviews and past footage, quite moving in parts and very good watching...... It tries to bring home a feeling of what it must have been like, not that we will ever fully realise, but....... ;)

Oh, so jealous.... A ride in a B17 and a Lanc......

Thats three not to be missed things on my list for the week!!!! Not a patch on Mrs CFBC's telly watching, but well done for a good hour's watching a week!!

Well, it finished - overall a pretty good effort, I thought. I still reckon the best part was the mixing of historians and veterans - the recollection toward the end of the man who 'lost' his first crew on their first 'op' moistened my eyes, too.

Nit-pick time - thought the flight in the CWH Lanc was a bit of an anti-climax ; also the programme makers seemed determined not to mention the BBMF....

Never mind- overall a fair insight into Bomber Command for a mass audience, crucially while there are still some veterans able to share their thoughts with us.

yep agree ref the Lanc flying section.. thourght that could've justified a whole episode alone after the build up to it ref granfathers flying 'em etc.. and yes Agent, I found myself shouting 'we know' at the TV as they kept repeating 'the story so far' !! :D
