Hi there,
Despite browsing this site since it went live, this is my first posting. Here's hoping my fellow collectors can help me out here!
I've just acquired the B-52H "Iraqi Freedom" model, only to notice that I'm "missing" two undercarriage doors. Well they're not actually missing, but what Corgi have done is given me six undercarriage doors for the gear-up option, leaving me with only the two doors for the gear-down option.
Who can I speak to at Corgi? A contact number would be great.

On the subject of quality control, I have just received a Corgi RCAF Hercules in the mail and discovered what I'm pretty certin are production defects including several dents which look like they have been sprayed over rather than dented whilst the paint was on aswell as some "wrinkling" of paint on the model. Anyone ever encountered bad physical defects to their models rather than just missing bits

I bought the RCAF C130 and the markings are all scratched it is a total mess. I didn't bother changing it as the petrol money meant that it was not worth the trip. I may just spray it myself and add some decals.

The RCAF herkybird seems to suffer a lot. The worst point was where the sides touch the plastic packing, the roundals get smudged (paint wet?) Mines like it, and anyone I've spoken to has had the same problem. Trouble with this is you don't find out till you get the model home.
This is a bit like the Canopus comet. I don't think I've ever seen a good one of these.
Whats happened to the herks anyway?

Hi Cooper and welcome to the looney bin! I had a similar issue with the Culdrose Sea King, and had too many "flying" rotor blades and not enough static ones. I contacted Corgi, and as admin have said, they will put the problem right. I've only ever had parts issues twice, and on both occasions they were superb. ;)

If you look on Eggbay at the moment there is a Old Crow P51 72nd. The guy says he has displayed in sunlight, and guess what? The Canopy has gone opaque or 'milky'.
I find this interesting as an optical person. If you wear spex the lenses are quite likely to be made from a plastic called CR39. This was originally a formulation that was being designed for aircraft canopies. Some bod found it had excellent optical properties.Now the point of all this is that CR39 lenses contain Urea. And in the past there has been problems with lenses going opaque or 'milky'. I'm not suggesting the canopies corgi use are made from this material. It is a more injection molded stiffer plastic obviously similar to placky kits. But I find it worrying that displaying in the wrong place could cause this. Maybe the plastic does contain urea though? I also find the tarnishing of the polished finish worrying. Corgi have stated that this would not happen when I specifically asked about this and fading.
Unfortunately, I don't possess a chemistry degree to comment any further. No doubt someone out there knows.

Don't know if this is connected or not, but I have an Me109 that the white has yellowed on. It seems to have been displayed in a smokey environment, but I still would not have expected this to happen. Has anyone else had experience of this and if so does anyone know if it's possible at all to remove or is it permanent?

Sounds like nicotine stains. G/B tip for cleaning nicotine stains off computer equipment 'Greige' cases is the Green Mr Muscle window cleaner. I would be very careful on a Corgi plane though as it could make a mess of it (do not use on metallic paints). If you are of a more nervous disposition then warm soapy water shouldn't do any harm.

OK, fair enough, might give the soapy water a try, not sure if it'll help though. Thanks for the advice though gooneybird, much appreciated, anyone else got any other ideas, or anyone else had the same problem?

If its come from a smokers house.. It is a BITCH... In fact if you are bidding on the Bay and it aint brand new in box.. tis a good question to ask. ( specially if you are talking money..). My green RAF Dak still reeks of tobacco smoke and we are two years down the line...
