This picture has been causing quite a debate on another forum is it real or not?
As who ever took it wont come forward I feel happy about posting it on here for you guys to have a look at, If it is real the prop tips are just about 12 inches above the runway but if its not real it must rate as one of the best photo shop pics I have ever seen

Look through the canopy what you see is not the same as the background a rather poor Photoshop effort.

Don't forget that the shape of the canopy will cause a "fishbowl" effect.

Consensus on the "other" forum is that it is definitely photshopped.

If youy look you can see a reflection of an extended undercarriage leg on the reflection under the wing, and if the gear was up, then there would be a smaller "hole"/dark area in the white d-day stripe where the gear door cover sits.

They have posted some good comparison shots of same aircraft in similar attitude, but with gear still in place that confirm the above.

Definitely photoshopped.. got different sizes of resolution going on in the picture which you will have owing to the way jpeg works... ...however there is all sorts of poo around that whip aerial and tail wheel which shouldn't be there.. IMHO..

I beg to differ that it is poorly photoshopped after blowing picture up I found there is no obvious changes in pixulation around the whole airframe and as for the comment made on the other forum that you can see a reflection of the undercarriage on the wing is poppycock I am not saying this is real I do not believe it is but poorly done it is not. If anyone can do better I would love to see it

.... so whats all the carp around the tailwheel and aerial..

To me it looks like it is taking off and has the undercarriage 'removed'. I think I can see the reflection of the lowered undercarriage reflected on the wing.

;)

I blew the bigger picture on the other forum up and the area you point out is nowhere near as bad it is on this compressed pic I posted here

As you have pointed out Agent the two areas you think are at fault are the aerial and tail wheel so does that makes the augment others have made that it is just the main wheels that have been removed invalid? :)

Point taken old froot... I actually thought its a cut and paste.... but of course it would be easier to just remove the wheels..

One thing is for sure.. if that is low flying then the owners of that Spit wont want that pilot anywhere near their plane again...;)

Then they would have grounded him... if that is a low pass......

However of course it may be shortly after the gear is retracted for take off.... but reading the thread and the u/c reflection, I am of the Photoshopped camp.. i get the same stuff on the airliners when I photoshop out the stand....

Try as I might I cannot see any reflection of the undercarriage on the under surface of the wing:wacko: I did say this was a good one:LOL:

only a lunatic would fly that low...one slight attitude adjustment = one shattered prop and Spitfire messily comes to grief...my verdict: photoshopped

The tailwheel on a PR Mk XIX is retractable, surely if the main undercarriage is retracted the tailwheel should be as well if it were genuine.

only a lunatic would fly that low...one slight attitude adjustment = one shattered prop and Spitfire messily comes to grief...my verdict: photoshopped So its undercarriage up early from a take off...

According to the other forum, the tail wheel on this one was at that time bolted down..

If that was a low pass, there would be other photos, comments, u tube stuff...

Naw the background aint moving fast enough, so its a take off.. or a 'shop'... My vote still goes for the latter...

Mind you I get dem Yankees swear me model photography is real...:D

Photochopped - the shadow on the ground (or lack therof) is a dead giveaway. Look carefully at the lighting, angles and the shadow on the ground.
