View Full Version : Aircraft Identification Postcards?

When I was a young lad (back in the 50's) my father had quite an extensive collection of what appeared to be aircraft recognition postcards; they were a good size (rectangular) and each one had a black and white photograph of a 1930-40's aircraft, mostly military, Axis and Allied. On the reverse side of each card was a plan form sillouhette and specifications of the aircraft. Is anyone on this forum familiar with these items, and can they or reproductions be sourced in the U.K or on evil-Bay? I've searched high and low on the net and cannot seem to locate anything quite like them.

Curious to know if anyone can offer up some information.

My father-in-law, who was in the ATC back in the early fifties, has mentioned how they used to use these for aircraft recognition and that they used to have competitions against other bases......

Thanks for the link Dilli, but unfortunately the cards described on e-Bay are a little different - primarily they don't seem to have the combination of photograph on one side and specifications plus sillhouette on the other side. However, my best guess is that they would fall under the category of 'spotter' cards.
