Bulk lots never realise their true potential but then who knows ??? Lets see how it ends up but most peeps unlikely to be interested in the whole lot !!......

Hmmmm....a matt aluminum Vulcan. I like it. At least XA895 and XA899 were in this scheme after they received the cranked wing. Wouldn't take any change in Corgi's tooling to do these, if I'm not too terribly wrong.

The Victor? Sir Frederick Handley Page's personally-designed scheme of black over silver-grey with a red cheat line would attract my eye! There is also the second prototype which was painted in overall PRU blue. Kind of monochromatic and boring, but certainly different. I'd buy one. :)

What liveries will these two new releases be in, Albert? Just throw caution to the winds and tell us! :D

yep i think they'd make a nice boxed-set.. perhaps Corgi could include a discount voucher redeemable at the supplier of the missing V-Bomber?!

The two-Tone Victor looks very nice... like a killer whale..its about halfway down the page..

Boxed set... mmm.. and a further re-release..!!

That HP111 ..mmmmm RAF TC colours...!!

Right that picture further down from your two tone... the piccy of the Victor releasing the 35 x 1000 bombs.. is that a fake..? Surely the bombs would fall away... and would all those bombs fit in that bay..???

Anyone know...?

Your Victor was a formidable machine, Agent. From "V-Bombers: Valiant, Vulcan and Victor", Crowood Press, Chapter 11, "The Armament Saga":

"Handley Page's Victor B.2 had a capacious bomb-bay, holding thirty-five 1,000lb conventional weapons in seven pre-loaded carriers, each containing five bombs, as its standard armament. However, the aircraft was capable of carrying up to forty-eight 1,000lb short-length bombs, three 10,000lb bombs, two 12,000lb bombs or one 22,000lb bomb. The last two were based on the World War II 'Tallboy' and 'Grand Slam' weapons, respectively."

The same photo on Neil's link is reproduced in Ian Allen's "Postwar Military Aircraft: 6 - Handley Page Victor", with the caption:

"B1A XH648 unleashes its 35,000lb bomb load over Song Song Range, Malaysia."

The Brits knew how to build aircraft. ;)

Yep got all that Mr Yankee chappie.. but would the bombs fall away like that or have we a retouched picture..?

I tend to think the photo is genuine, Agent. While I can't speak for the Victor, many photos of B-52s unleashing their loads over North Vietnam show identical patterns of bombs. I'd think the bombs would have the same momentum as the aircraft, at least initially, and would tend to remain in loose formation with it until they slow down due to aerodynamic drag. Then they'd tend to curve gradually down towards the vertical.

Good point about the 52's...

It just looks too clean.... like they would all land up in the same spot... which isnt what you want...

The Victor had to be modified to release its load, such were the aerodynamic qualities of the aircraft. Deflectors had to be placed in front of the bomb bay otherwise the bombs just stayed in the airflow. This then enabled the ordnance to fall away cleanly.

The picture is a retouched publicity shot; the spread of the bombs was rather wider for real drops.
