Fantastic pics Agent. Don't know what's more impressive the pics or how the models look scaled up. That tiny BKS 748 must be nearly 1/72 scale.

It's amazing how they can do such impressive tampo printing on such a small scale.

I received my first two 1/400th civvies for a very long time today.

I don't collect modern stuff at all. The collection is centred around BEA and BOAC. There is also the collection of RAF 'heavies'. For me 400th is a perfect size for these and when combined with ground support equipment, makes a lovely display.

Anyway, what arrived today? Firstly an Aeroclassics BEA Vickers Vanguard. However this is not your usual BEA colour schemes but the classic 1950s colours that were used on G-APEA as a pre-delivery scheme. Lovely model.

Secondly something very special to me. When I was a child, Blackbushe was still an airport and one of the operators flying out of there was British Eagle. One Sunday, my father took me up there - we only lived less than 5 miles away - and we went to the Eagle maintenance area on the opposite (south) side of the A30. Introducing me (an amazed kiddie) to one of the engineers, I was invited to climb the steps of this four engined monster. Into the cockpit we went and I was plonked into the left hand seat where I was shown all the controls. Front that seat I could see across the main road to the airport and the terminal and all the comings and goings. The engineer hadn't finished yet. He pointed out a couple of switches - the monster had just had some work done on the whirly things on the wings. He told me what order to press and turn the switched and lo and behold one of the big radials, with a cloud of smoke, burst into life with the big propellor starting to turn.

What aircraft was this? Well it was a Douglas DC-6A. Which one? G-APSA! (I had the pleasure of reliving those memories at Goodwood Revival 2008 when I was again invited by Julian firth into the cockpit). Yes the same one that is still operated by Air Atlantique Classic Flight at Coventry and which is currently being fitted out in a period interior. Also, it is the same aircraft that has just been released by JC Wings in those British Eagle colours. What memories!

So this model is very special to me indeed and what a little beauty it is.

Useful place to dump the photos before posting onto other sites.. .. and that this is boring with a capital yawn, but no doubt the Cargo nutz will love it..
