I really love the C47. and I dont have room to display more than one example of it. So I was waiting for a D-Day USAAF stripey. But I did not want the compromises the Mutt has too do. So I went and built one. I also plan to build the Horsa Glider to go along with her to complete the picture.

Triumph up to your usual high standards as always, brilliant job But what about all the terrific pics of your other models that you post over on that 'other' site - why don't you share those with the DAF?

That is nice Triumph, I would take one of those and an RAF Lord VC one in an instant.

I forget for made the old model of the C-47 that came with paratroopers all kitted up for jumping, but I'd love to find it.

Thanx for the heads-up. I kind of thought it may be, but with all the various retro kits floating about, one can never be too sure. I'll have a look.

Ok just seen the new "RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight", in MZ a few hours back and I have to ask, can you remove the front nose piece? as again we have a misalignment of paint. Not as bad as the Arnhem one, but is enough to annoy me If they get this kind of thing sorted when the "Buzz Buggy Membury" comes along I could find myself getting it

According to Wiki it`s not a `101st` cab ride, but an `82nd`, so that should make you smile old chap.........

On the early morning of D-Day, the 436th undertook its first combat mission, its C-47s dropping 1,1.184 paratroops and 12 artillery guns of the 82d Airborne Division over Normandy France south-east of Ste Marie Eglise without aircraft loss.

Well that is good news. I had found something on BB stating they dropped the 101st in Holland. I'm no order of battle guy, so assumed they dropped the 101 on Normandy as well.
Still, this is good news for those of us who wear the Double A.

From my understanding up until and on D-Day, C-47 units were designated to either the 101st or the 82nd, but from the 7th June onwards due to losses and emergency requirements they started to `mix and match` as they say.

For instance, although the 436th dropped the 82nd on D-Day, on the 7th June they were flying supply missions to the 101st.

Looking at the New Arrivals at the Mule I notice AA38204 (RAF No.267 (Pegasus) Sqn, Egypt, 1942). Thát one has been in my blind spot completely! I like it though, the white underside makes a great contrast!

Edit: Oh blast! This the BBMF Dakota... :|
