Think this'll be one to see in the metal first. It does look a bit blue in the Mule's pics. I was expecting something closer to AA32809, the 235 Sqn D-Day Mossie colour wise.

Assuming that The Mule's pictures represent a typical example of this model----which, by the way, I have ordered---a few questions arise. As I recall, didn't the yellow spinners on these Mosquitos have stripes? Also, I see a third color on the sides of the engine nacelles----below the topside extra dark sea grey and above the much lighter undersurface color. I doubt that these medium grey or light blue patches existed. More likely the factory failed to match the upper surface color properly when doing the engine sides. Also, on the painting front, most pictures I've seen show the upper surface color angled down a bit on the nose so it encompasses the gun muzzles. On the Corgi model, the separation line extends straight out, inadvertantly highlighting the gun muzzles. As for that distortion of the markings on the left side of the fuselage, this looks like a bad fit issue. Hopefully, it applies only to the model in the picture, not the entire run.

Despite these questions, I happpen to like this particular Mosquito scheme and will happily attempt to set things right, when my example arrives. If I encounter a bad fit problem, I'll take the parts involved apart and try for a fix.

I hate to even 'go there' on this subject, but it's fair to say that I have one of the early pre-pro's of this model sitting here and both the upper-surface blue and yellow spinners look totally different to the Mule's pics.

Either the colours haven't come out well in the pic, or Mr Wong has messed up the production model.........

Look closely and you can just see CFBC and Admin clinging to the rail, moments after the consignment of Banff Mossies was airlifted into a SARS Sea King....

Uh...since this diecast was cancelled, does that increase the value of my copy?

I'm pleased to say that my example of this model, which just arrived, doesn't have the bad fit issue on its left side that was shown in the Mule's pictures. As for the upper surface color, it's virtually identical to the US Navy's Intermediate Blue than the Extra Dark Sea Grey that I believe is the correct shade. I'm making a few minor alterations and will probably live with the slightly thick yellow outer rim on the fuselage roundels. It should be a nice addition to my collection.

Thank goodness...I've actually been afraid to open mine and look. Strange that the Mule would use a bad copy as an example.

It is strange but this over the last few months has been the norm . A number of their photos have been of either pre-pros or just bad examples .

They've never managed to color/tint correct their pics either - not properly anyway...

Default Corgi vs IXO

Hi All

A quick comparison of Corgi's Banff and IXO's. Both carrying the same serial number........

Interesting. Is that a replacement stand or is the limited edition number on it?

Question

Interesting..... they can't both be 100% accurate, the arial, rocket rails and I guess the aircraft could have been repainted in service.....

Ummmmm ?

I was looking forward to this, but I'll be passing on this one.The colour doesnt look like Extra dark Sea grey to me, and what are the dark patches on the engines
Hoping Corgi do another rocket Mossie and do a better job.
